Introduction
In the year 476 A.D(C.E) the emperor of Rome Romulus was deposed by Odoacer when he proclaimed himself King of Italy. Many historians mark this as the end of the Roman Empire ending a period of over 500 years in which Rome was the strongest nation in the world. Rome known for its magnificent buildings, and its powerful military came to an end. This didn't occur overnight but it was a gradual decent which was due to internal and external forces.
Right now the United States is seeing factors similar to those that let to Rome's demise and the President is worry that the U.S might end up sharing the same fate as Rome
Task
The President has assigned you the task of researching the reasons why Rome fell in order to learn from their mistakes. He knows that the factors that lead to Romes demise included political, social, economic, and military reasons. The problem is that he doesn't know which is the main reason why Rome fell. He wants you and a team of experts to study the downfall of the Roman Empire and then present your findings to his executive counsel and himself.
Process
You will follow the following steps in order to accomplish your goals.
Step 1.
The teacher will put you into 4 teams which will then master one of the 4 categories the president is needing your expertise in. (Political, Military, Economic and Social)
Step 2.
Once in these teams you will follow the links below corresponding to your category and gather information on how they contributed to the fall of Rome. First click on the Prezi and video links to see an overview of the Collapse of Roman Empire. Use the graphic organizer provided to help you organize your information. Before moving on to step 3 each group will compare notes to make sure they all have the information provided in the links

Step 3:
Now that you have researched and have become an expert. Get together with the people from other groups who are also researching the same topic to become experts. Now with this new group come up with a presentation that convinces the president that it was the cause that you researched that let to the downfall of Rome.
Work with your final expert team and create a presentation. Your presentation can be in the form of a Power point or a Prezi.
