Expressing Congratulation and Complementing

Introduction

One of the materials in English lessons is about expressions. Expressions are utterances or expressions that are often spoken by someone when facing certain conditions or circumstances. We always find expressions in everyday life. Congratulating and complementing are examples of expressions we often say to others. The expressions used to congratulate someone when he has achieved something. Then, are our words in the right place? Well, that's what we will start and discuss in this material.

Task

You will familiarize yourself with the expressions used in performing the Congratulation and Implement expressions which you will later use to create role-plays recorded on video. Process

-Step 1 : Grouping

Make a small group consisting of 2 students

-Step 2 : What are the Expressions (congratulation and complementing) used?

Get yourself familiar with the conversation in showing the expressions. Open the links below and make a note of idioms and vocabulary mostly used in showing certain expressions.

-Step 3 How to Express Congratulation and Complement

After knowing the expressions used, try to see how they are used in communication. Visit the link below and watch the videos. Pay attention to the use of intonation, stress, and facial expressions. Does the intonation fall when you are happy to express it? Find out yourself.

-Step 4 : What is a Roleplay?

Learn to know what Roleplay is and how to make it. Then make a dialogue with your friend using the expressions of Congratulating and implementing what you’ve learned.

-Step 5 : Create the Video

Make a video based on the dialogue you have created with your friend. Make sure the video is of good enough quality. Submit your work (the script and the video) upload on YouTube and submit your scripts and link YouTube in Google Classroom in two weeks.
