Exploring Ocean Tides

Introduction

Have you ever wondered why the ocean rises and falls every day? Why are some beaches almost underwater during some hours and completely exposed during others? In this WebQuest, you will become a young scientist investigating how the moon, sun, and Earth work together to create ocean tides. By the end, you will understand one of the most powerful forces shaping our oceans!

Task

Task

Your task is to work individually to create a digital infographic that explains:

  • What causes tides

  • The difference between high tide and low tide

  • The difference between spring tides and neap tides

  • Why most places experience two high tides and two low tides each day

Your infographic should include images, diagrams, and short explanations in your own words.

You will submit:

✔ A digital infographic (Google Slides, Canva, MS PowerPoint, etc.)

✔ A short reflection paragraph about what you learned
