Today we will be learning more about habitats. Habitats are the homes for plants and animals. It is where plants and animals get their food, water, and shelter. Two of the main habitats are land and water. Land habitats can include mountains, deserts, and rainforests. Water habitats could include fresh or salt water. Habitats can range from extreme hot and dry to very cold and wet. Today we are going to go on an online adventure to learn more about specific habitats!

Task

Your task is to investigate the many different habitats by participating in this WebQuest. After looking through the different habitats, you will choose one habitat to research more fully. It is your job to find out as much as you can about the habitat you have chosen. For example, what types of plants and animals live in the your habitat? You will use the links attached in the WebQuest to learn more about your habitat. When you have completed all parts of the WebQuest you will be using this information to create a Habitat Poster of the plants and animals you could find in your habitat.

Process

In order to learn more about your chosen habitat, you will use the links below to research.

You will be using the information learned to create a Habitat Poster for your chosen Habitat. You will be provided with a rubric to guide you. The rubric is found under the evaluation tab.

Materials needed for Poster:

* Poster paper

* Markers

* Crayons

* Magazines (if you want to find pictures of animals and plants to use)

* Glue

* Rubric

Conclusion

Congratulations! You did it! You have successfully completed the Exploring Habitats webquest! Now you know the following things:

  • What is a habitat
  • What animals live in each habitat
  • Why animals eat what they eat
  • What adaptations animals have based on the habitat they live in
  • Why plants and vegetation grow where they grow
  • What the different habitats look like and where they are located

The objective of this Exploring Habitats WebQuest is for students to use an investigative/Inquiry approach to learn about various habitats in the world. After learning about habitats, students were to put their knowledge to the test by creating a
