EUROVISION

Introduction

Eurovision Song Contest, or simply Eurovision, is a TV contest that takes place once a year, in which several interpreters take part representing their country. This event is transmitted in the whole world and, in spite of being a promoter of pop music, all kinds of music can be found.

The contest was transmitted for the first time in 1956, being a simple experiment to try to join the inhabitants of Europe in the post word period. Now, it has an audience of 600 millions of spectators.

The rules of the constest have charged throughout the years, but they are based on giving some points to the best participant. The highest number of points is twelve.

Task

Eurovision is going to be held next week in Lisbon. In Spain, "Tu Canción" has been chosen to represent our country.

However, there are many other participants from other European countries. What do you know about them and their songs? This Webquest is aimed for imformation about all of them in order to know a little bit more about this special event.

Process

You will work in groups of 4 people. Each group will chose a country among some of the participants of the Eurovision Song Contest. This time you will work on The Big Five (Spain, France, United Kingdom, Italy, Germany) and Portugal.

Look at the webpages provided carefully and try to find as much information as possible to prepare a mural. We will hang all of them on the school walls at the entrance. All of them must contain the following information:

Name of the country, location, song and singers, language of the song, type of music, lyrics, pictures of the singers, postion got by the country last year in the contest.

Conclusion

Each group prepares a mural with the information got from the resources provided and all of them hung on the school walls.

At the end of this activity students have a clearer idea of Eurovision Song Contest and the songs that wiil be sung next week.
