In this Webquest you are going to dig deep to what is related to English for Science and Technology, the characteristics of EST.
EST has numerous characteristics that you are going to learn about in this quest.
English for Science and Technology (EST) generally refers to English used in scientific publications, papers, textbooks, technical reports and academic lectures, etc. It is used to describe the physical and natural phenomena, their processes, properties, characteristics, laws and application in productive activities.

In your own words explain to me each characteristic and provide at least one example for each one:
the characteristics are divided into:
1-the lexical characteristics:
a-frequent use of ST words
b-extensive use of abstract nouns and descriptive adjectives
c-replacement of verb phrases by verbs
2-the syntactic characteristics:
a-common use of postpositive attributive
b-extensive use of passive voice
c-wide use of non-predicative verbs
d-more long and complicated sentences
3-the rhetorical characteristics:
a-limited use of tenses
b-less use of rhetorical devices and complex formation style
c-frequent use of omission, inversion and separation
d- deliberated use of subjunctive mood
e-tactful use of imperatives
