Introduction
Students, young or old, often confuse the Antonyms and Synonyms while thinking of vocabulary words to replace the other in writing. They often use the words opposite in meaning when they are really looking for words similar in meaning. Often times, comparative words are mistaken with antonyms as well.
Task
1. What is the difference between synonyms and antonyms?
2. What does synonyms and antonyms tell you about words?
3. Yesterday was hot, today is cold. which is present in this sentence, an antonym or synonym?
4. I would like to get a big gift or present on my birthday. Which words are similar in meaning in the sentence?
5. List three sets of anytonyms and three sets of synonyms.
Process
There are five question in the activity provided and and answers should be esier to find after listening to the podcast in the link provided.
Evaluation
1. Synonyms are words that are similar in meaning and antonyms are words that are opposite in meaning.
2. They tell you about the relationship between two words.
3. An antonym is reperesented in the sentence because cold and hot are two opposite words.
4. A synonym is represented because gift and present could replace each other and still have the same meaning.
5. antonyms: cold/hot, fast/slow, old/young
synonyms: present/gift, frightened/scared, quick/fast
If you got all five answers correct you have mastered the concept.

If you got between three to four answers right you are on your way but need a little more practice.
