Advertising

Focus on:

  • Target Market/ Target Audience- divided into age, gender, social status e.g.
  • Teenagers, computer geeks, stay-at-home mothers, jetsetters, corporates, etc.
  • Emotive Language
  • Logo-Picture? graphic used as an identifying symbol. It acts as a signature for a brand
  • Slogan-Short, memorable phrase that is immediately associated with a brand.
  • Clever wording? Body Copy
  • Celebrity Endorsement

ACTIVITY 1- QUESTIONS (ANALYSING AN ADVERTISEMENT)

Study the advertisement below and answer the set questions below. (Find the advertisement on the link*)

2. Refer to the headline.

QUESTION MARKS  CONTENT
       1.  (0-2) - Correct name and correctly spelt.
       2.  (1-2)

- Reason is valid or correct

- Understanding is shown

       3.  (1-2) - Reasonable thinking is applied
       4.  (0-2) - Previous knowledge is still remembered
       5.  (0-2)

- Both words correctly quoted

- Only one word is correct

       6.  (1-2) - The reason is valid or correct
       7.  ((0-2) - Valid points are made
       8.   (1-5) - Accurate discussion

 

 

 

 

Conclusion

In conclusion look for an advertisement of any brand or product and write an analysis of no more that 100-150 words, using the vocabulary used in Advertising.
