Introduction
Greet the learners.
Ask the learners what is a verb?
I will introduce the topic of the day which is Active and passive voice, by displaying two pictures on board and ask them to identify which one is Passive and which one is Active.
Task
Change the sentences into passive voice.
1. We shall all play the piano.
2. My mother and grandmother raised me.
3. The school in Vereeniging offered music as a subject.
4.The school forbids dancing.
5. They are performing a popular dance.
6. She has to follow the instructions in the music book.
Process
In the Active voice the subject of the sentence does the action. In the passive voice the object becomes the subject and having the action done to it.
Changing a sentence from active into passive.
General rule.
-Underline the verb.
-Divide the sentences into: Subject-verb-object.
-Begin with the object
example: The magician performs the trick.
The trick is perfomed by the magician.
Evaluation
1. The piano shall be played by us.
2. I was raised by my mother and grandmother.
3. Music was offered as a subject in a school in Vereeniging.
4. Dancing is forbidden by the school.
5. A popular dance is performed by them.
6. Instructions in the music book needs to be followed.
