Energy WebQuest Introduction to Amplify Unit

Introduction

Your quest is to learn about how humans use energy and natural resources for our everyday lives. You will look at how our energy consumption impacts society and the environment, including climate change, and suggest ways to mitigate these impacts. You will evaluate effects of various technologies on energy consumption, and describe ways in which individuals can use technology to reduce energy consumption.

1. Gather information on how we (humans) use energy. 

2. Get a better understanding of where our energy comes from. Pay close attention to how Ontario creates and delivers energy.

3. Understand the different types of energy sources and which is better for the environment.

4. Discover ways to reduce our energy impact.

Evaluation

Create a poster to advertise and inform people of things they can do to help conserve energy and help the environment. Make it really eye catching and bright. Keep your writing short – try not to have big long sentences. A poster is brief and uses labels and pictures to inform.

Please include the following in your poster:

-Title

-Picture 

-Labels

-Bright, bold and eye catching lay out

-Concise and catchy statements about your suggestions

-Evidence of at least 4 key understandings from your research

 

Option 2: Use the Laptop to film a PSA (Public Service Announcement) commercial that informs the public of the different sources of energy. 

Please include the following in you PSA:

-Title

-Clear and concise language explaining the different energy sources we use in Ontario

-Depictions of the different energy sources (you can create pictures, or use the laptop to find pictures)

-30 seconds to 90 seconds in length

-An explanation of what energy source is the best for environmental considerations

-A quick script of your dialogue (no making it up as you go, you must plan what you will say)
