Introduction
Romanian cuisine is a diverse blend of different dishes from several traditions with which it has come into contact, but it also maintains its own character. It has been mainly influenced by a series of European cuisines such as the Austrian cuisine, German cuisine, Greek cuisine, or Hungarian cuisine, yet it also includes culinary elements stemming from the cuisines of the Slavic-speaking countries of Eastern and Central Europe, most notably Serbian and Bulgarian as well as Polish, Ukrainian, and Russian.
The objectives of this webquest are:
-
consolidating the knowledge about specific Romanian dishes
-
building the skills needed to produce these specific foods
-
familiarizing with the history of these dishes
Task
Your task for this webquest is to find out exactly what are the specific foods, the quality indicators for these dishes.
You and your group (four students) will become "experts" on the characterization of Romanian cuisine, capable of identifying Romanian culinary preparations and the technology of obtaining them.
Finally, you will create a portfolio that will include the completed worksheets and a technological sheet for a specific Romanian dish.
Process
Follow the steps below for the first process in your project.
-
The class is divided in groups of 4 students. Students will collect information about the history of Romanian cuisine and discuss the origin of some traditional dishes.

-
The first group will bring examples of liquid dishes traditionally cooked, the next group – main course dishes, and the last group – traditional dishes for desert.
Each group will take into account:
-
-
the specific foods for each type of menu
-
the technological process
-
the quality indicators for these dishes
-
After performing the task, each team leader will fill in the worksheets and will present to their colleagues the information gathered by the team; each student will express his opinion on the discussed topic.
The last group will gather some of the information in a PowerPoint presentation.
