Introduction
1. More than 12 million immigrants went through Ellis Island. The trip across the ocean took about 1-2 weeks. Health officers would look for diseases, so that they weren't being spread around.Most immigrants didn't use suitcases often, most just used bundles. Women that came alone were often not allowed because they were afraid she wouldn't be ale to support herself.
