Introduction
It's officially October and it's time to plan the Elementary Halloween Party. As you know, many people are involved to help setup and run this event. Our 4th grade Math class is in charge of asking parents to donate all the candy for students. But wait!! Before we can ask for candy donations, we must figure out what we need!
Task
Working with your small group, you will create a Candy Wish List for each of our elementary grade levels for the upcoming Halloween Party. Make sure we are asking for enough candy so all students can collect 2 pieces at each of the 12 activity stations.
Process
1: Work in your small groups to figure out how many pieces of candy is needed for each grade level. It’s ok to have some extra candy, but we MUST ask parents for enough candy so each student collects 2 pieces at each of the 12 activity stations. Be sure to show your work and take a picture to upload with your submission on Google Classroom.
2: Research different options of candy bags on Amazon.com, Target.com, OR Walmart.com. Compare pricing per piece of candy to see where you can get the most bang for your buck!
3: Create a Wish List for each grade level. Each list needs your group name and grade level: PreK, Kinder, 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th. (Example: Stars PreK, Stars Kinder, Stars 1st, etc.)
*Each list should include a minimum of 2 links to candy bags (maximum of 5). Your list for each grade should show the following:
-links to your specific bags of candy
-the price of each bag of candy
-the quantity needed of each bag (Hint: it will depend on the number of students in each grade)
*You may use the template provided in the Resources tab
4: Once you have finished your wish lists, show your work to show how many pieces of candy we are requesting for each grade level. Tell me how many pieces extra you will have or if you have the exact amount. This step will help you double check that you have not accidentally requested LESS than what we need.
5: You may choose to create a Google Doc OR Google Slides to submit your wish lists. Upload pictures of any work to support your submission.
Evaluation
Conclusion
I hope you have had fun helping plan the Elementary Halloween Party! As you have seen, when creating a Wish List for items, you first need to determine the amount you need. When selecting bags of candy, you calculated how many bags of each you would need to get closest to the total amount you needed. I will select the cheapest route from your submissions to send to our parents. Thank you for your help!!

hi! I created this webquest for an assignment in my MAT coursework. I hope to teach 4th grade math and think this would be a beneficial hands on project for students to practice multi-step and multi-operations (multiplication, division, addition, and subtraction.)
