Shapes can be put into two categories 2-Dimensional and 3-Dimensional shapes. You have learned about shapes in class and have a basic understanding of them but how well are you able to differentiate between them? On this journey you will explore the concepts of both 2-D and 3-D shapes.

For the completion of this task you will need, a computer with internet access, a pen/pencil and a sheet of writing paper. You are to use these tools to explore the concepts of 2D and 3D shapes. You must be able to differentiate between the shapes and also list these differences.

-Learn some songs about shapes to aid with your understanding.

The use of this WebQuest was to teach you about 2D shapes such as squares, rectangles and triangles. You were also introduced to 3D shapes such as cones, cylinders and spheres. Do you know the properties of each shape? Can you describe each and any object by its properties and shapes after completing this quest?

Shapes are a part of our everyday life no only at home or in our classroom, but everywhere we visit as well. When you go out on new adventures try spotting and identifying shapes, you can even find new shapes that you haven't learned about in this class.

This web quest was created to assist the students in better understanding 2D and 3D shapes.


This lesson would be done over the span of an hour.


The teacher will need to ensure that the computer lab is available so that the students can have internet access as the instructional resources are all web based.

Classroom management

The teacher will need to keep a close eye on the students to ensure that they don't stray from the task at hand. Integrating internet into the classroom may cause a few distractions, so, proper classroom management is necessary.
