You will be learning about several different ecosystems. First you will visit a website, before you start on your graphic organizer, skim over the website. To complete the graph organizer you will pick 4 of the ecosystems on the website. For each ecosystem you will tell what it is, list one animal that lives there, list one plan that grows there, and list one extra fact about it. The you will watch a video, while you're watching the video you will have a set of questions to listen for and answer.

5-LS2-1

Performance expectation: Develop a model to describe the movement of matter among plants, animals, decomposers, and the environment.

Clarification Statement: Emphasis is on the idea the matter that is not food (air, water, decomposed material in soil) is changed by plants into matter that is food. Examples could include organisms, ecosystems of the Earth not including molecular explanations.

Disciplinary Core Ideas: Cycles of matter and energy transfer in ecosystems. Matter cycles between the air and soil and among plants, animals, decomposers, and microbes as these organisms live or die. Organisms obtain gases, and water. from the environment, and release waste matter (gas, kiquid, or solid) back into the environment.
