Introduction

Salam, good morning. Today we will be learning about the kind of history 5 billion years in the making- the earth's history!
To begin with, we will focus on the landmasses and climate and find out how they changed and affected both the earth's landscape and living organisms.
We will also discover the amazing evolution of various organisms in the land and seas as they travel through the different eras and periods in history.
We will ponder on how organisms became extinct like the great dinosaurs and at the same time how other organisms flourished and survive despite climatic changes such as what happened in the ice age.
Lastly, we will learn how mammals like humans came into being.
Goodluck on today's journey!
Task
I will group you into 5. Each group must have a leader, a secretary and a reporter.
Working in a small team, you will create a poster presentation about one of the periods. You can use classroom and library resources, as well as the Internet to research the following information:
- Landmasses: What did the surface of the Earth look like? Illustrate the arrangement of landmasses and/or continents.
- Climate: What was the climate like? Was there an ice age? Was it very warm?
Tips
- As a part of your presentation, illustrate a 12-hour clock and mark the span of the period on the clock. Hint: Each hour corresponds to 375 million years.
- Include photographs of plant and animal fossils or artist renditions of organisms that lived during the period.

Evaluation
Your poster presentation will be rated though the following rubric:

Conclusion
Congratulations! You have a successful journey on the earth's geologic time scale. You have discovered the movements of the landmasses and how climate undergo several changes thus affecting the different organisms on earth.
We will discover more about the earth on the succeeding stages on the Webquest.
