Step 2: Turn on Your Hazard Lights Activate your hazard lights to signal other drivers that you are parked and in need of assistance.

Step 3: Apply the Parking Brake Engage the parking brake to ensure your vehicle doesn't roll away while you're changing the tire.

Step 4: Gather the Tools and Spare Tire Locate the spare tire, jack, and lug wrench. They are usually located in the trunk of your car. If you're not sure where they are, check your owner's manual.

Step 5: Loosen the Lug Nuts Using the lug wrench, turn the lug nuts counterclockwise to loosen them. Don't remove them completely just yet.
