Doubling Your favorite Recipe (Proportional Relationships)

Introduction

Students will search for their favorite recipe on the web and create a larger recipe feeding the whole classroom. 

Task

Make your favorite recipe larger in order to theoretically feed the whole class. 

Process

Find a recipe online.

Copy the ingredients onto a word document.

Take each ingredient and find the proportional relationship between the quantity it already feed in servings and change it in order to feed at least 30 students.

Rewrite each ingredient in a new list on the same word document but with the new proportion due to the class size of servings. 

Evaluation

Old recipe must be included

New recipe must be included

Conversion from beginning servings to new servings for the class must be present. 

Correct heading including: name, grade, recipe title, and date

Conclusion

Students will be able to make a small recipe larger based on knowledge or proportional relationships.
