Introduction
Doubling up
Doubling up can be explained as adding a number to itself.
e.g. double 5 = 5 + 5 = 10
That is usually simple when doubling a single digit however things get more complicated when we need to double 2 digit number.
When doubling a 2 digit number we can use a method know as the break down method.
Lets double the number 12 using the break down method.
Step 1: Break down the number 12 ( 10 + 2)
Step 2: Double each number (20 + 4 )
Step 3: Add the numbers up to get answer = 28
Task
Double up single numbers by adding the number to itself
Double 1 , Double 4 , Double 7 , Double 9.
Double the following numbers using the break-down method:
Double 14 , Double 16 , Double 18 and Double 21
