DIVE INTO YOUR FAVOURITE FICTIONAL WORLD.
Introduction
"Inkheart", a book written by Cornelia Funke explores an interesting idea of being able to jump into any book setting you could only imagine. What fictional world would you choose to dive into? Would it be the one described in your favorite book? Or maybe the one from your favorite movie franchise? Get into groups of four people and choose a fictional world that would be enjoyable to explore for all of you. Think of a group name that would be suitable for a specific fictional world. Each one of you will have a specific job to do, so get ready and let's begin!

Task
The task will focus on exploring the chosen fictional world in small groups you created. Think of a reason why you chose this particular world and build on your knowledge about it. Each one of you should choose one category (eg. nature, food, characters, system, culture, etc). You will create a powerpoint presentation as well as present your chosen world to the class, briefly talking about its characteristics.

Process
-
Choose a fictional world, based on the groups' interests.
-
Choose a name for the group that is somehow connecting to the chosen fictional world.
-
Each person chooses the category under which you will gather knowledge to create a presentation.
Make sure you all talk about gathered information, expand upon it. You don't have to be limited to your category only. You all can help each other out with the information given. That is why choosing a fictional world that is known to everyone in the group is important and crucial in this task. I suggest using mind maps to map your information, maybe a table in google docs containing a rubric with each one of the chosen categories.
Finding information in google is crucial regarding this task. There is a whole lot of fan information on the internet that is created based on the fictional source. Using websites such as https://www.fandom.com could be very helpful.
Evaluation
The projects will be graded based on the group cooperation, originality, oral presentation and information. Each group will receive a single grade, meaning everyone needs to commit in order to get a good grade. This is strictly a group project.

The knowledge that every one of you found out about will help us with the creative writing course we are about to take, more specifically, how to form interesting fictional worlds, based on many aspects you discussed in the presentations you held in our today's task.
So get ready, I hope you got some inspiration from today's task. See you next week, when we get into creating fictional worlds in writing.
