Welcome, young explorer!

Have you ever wondered who helps keep our community safe, healthy, and happy? There are many amazing people around us like firefighters, nurses, teachers, doctors, mail carriers, and many more who work every day to make life better.

In this WebQuest, you will get to discover who these helpers are, learn what they do, and create your own digital project to show what you've learned, all while having fun and using your creativity!

Task

Your mission is to create a digital poster (or mini webpage) about your 3-5 favorite community helpers using Canva or another digital tool.

 

Your poster will include:

  • The name of each community helper.
  • A picture.
  • A short explanation of what they do.
  • Why they are important.
  • Any tools or equipment they use

Once done, you will save your project as a PDF and upload it to your class folder.

Process

Step 1: EXPLORE

Visit these kid-friendly websites to learn about community helpers:

Step 2: RESEARCH

For each helper, answer:

          1. What do they do?

          2. Why are they important?

          3. What tools do they use?

Write short, clear answers.

Step 3: CREATE YOUR DIGITAL POSTER

Go to:

         Canva: https://www.canva.com 

Choose "Poster" or "Presentation"

Include:

  • Title: "My Community Helpers"
  • Pictures (from Canva's free library)
  • Short explanations
  • Simple, friendly design

Step 4: FINAL CHECK

Ask yourself:

  1. Is everything neat?
  2. Are my helpers clearly labeled?
  3. Did I include all 3-5 helpers
  4. Is my spelling correct?

Then save as PDF and upload to your class folder.
