Introduction
The primitive times are behind us, the digital world is here, and we are all involved in it and
use some form of technology on a daily basis.
The introduction and prominence of the internet has made it easy to share and receive information more quickly and effectively
worldwide.
Ribble’s framework is divided into three domains, which are-
- Be safe
- Be Savvy
- Be Social
Each domain has three elements that accounts for digital citizenship.
The aim of this web quest is to demonstrate how students as digital citizens can use technology and Be Safe, Be Savvy, and Be Social.
The domain and respective element that would be explored in this web quest are-
- Be safe- Digital Security and Privacy: Users take electronic precautions to guarantee safety of their information and data and that of others.
- Be Savvy- Digital Fluency: Users fully understand how to use technology to enhance their activities/ tasks.
- Be Social- Digital Communication and Collaboration: Users must understand how to use digital communication and collaboration tools and how to use them appropriately.
Task
This web quest comprises three activities-
Prior to completing the activities please engage in the short video titled "Being a Digital Citizen" to gain a further understanding of the content.
- The first activity, students are required a view a video about associated with the S3 Domain Be Safe and the element Digital Security and Privacy.
Subsequent to viewing the video, students will create a newsletter based on the information presented in the video.
2. The second activity, students are required to create a blog based on prior knowledge of creating newsletters. In this activity
students will be demonstrating the S3 Domain Be Savvy and the element Digital Fluency.
3. The third activity involves group work. Students are required to view a video demonstrating the steps to create a Google Document.
students will then create a Google document to do research on a particular topic. In this activity, students will be demonstrating the
S3 Domain Be Social and the element Digital Communication and Collaboration.

Activity One -
Be Safe - Digital Security and Privacy
Students are required to view the video on Digital Security, and Privacy associated with the S3 Domain Be Social.
1.Using a suitable newsletter template on Microsoft Word, you will create a newsletter.
2.Ensure that you include a definition of Digital Security and Privacy.
3. Ensure that you state outline why data protection is important.
Activity Two-
Be Savvy- Digital Fluency
1. Having attended the Crash course on how to create blogs.
2.You are tasked with creating a blog using the WordPress App.
3. You are to title the blog Healthy and Unhealthy Snacks.
4. After creating the blog, post it on your school's Facebook page so all can see.
Activity Three-
Be Social - Digital Communication and Collaboration
Video on how to create a Google Document
1. You are to form groups of five.
2. You are required to watch the video on the necessary steps to create a Google Document
3. You are to create a Google Document
4. You are required to write a report outlining the possible reasons for the overwhelming prevalence of Street Children in the country of Brazil.
5. You are then required to construct a PowerPoint to present to the class the findings of the report.

This lesson was constructed to teach students in a Standard Three Class about Digital Citizenship.
Be Safe, Be Savvy and Be Social was used along with three of the Ribble's Elements from his framework;
Digital Security and Privacy, Digital Fluency, and Digital Communication and Collaboration.
