Digital Citizenship (Be Social)

Introduction

This is a Digital Citizenship WebQuest designed for a Standard Four class.

 

In our world today, Technology or the use thereof is what connects us, global citizens. The internet is a quick and resourceful way to

share information and connect with others anywhere across the world. Therefore you should be mindful of how you interact with others

on the internet.

 

This WebQuest will seek to teach you how you can be social with others through the use of four interactive activities all based on the

elements of  Ribble's S3 Domain' Be Social'. These elements are:

                    1) Digital Access: All users have equitable access to technology and online resources

                    2) Digital Commerce: All must have knowledge and protection in the digital space as they electronically buy and sell goods

                    3) Digital Communication and Collaboration: Users must understand how to use digital communication and collaboration   

                        tools and how to use them appropriately

Task

There are four activities you must complete in this WebQuest. They include:

1. The first activity involves the viewing of three videos. Each video will be based on the three elements of the S3 Domain 'Be Social'.

After viewing each video, you will be required to create your own video presentation on what you have learned from the three resources.

 

2. The second activity involves the creation of a photo collage. Using various pictures, you are to create an eye-catching photo collage

that will depict one of the three elements of the S3 Domain 'Be Social'.

 

3. The third activity involves creating a Powerpoint presentation that must be based on a given element of the S3 Domain 'Be Social'

 

4.The fourth activity is a class game which is based on the S3 Domain 'Be Social'. Each group must complete the eight questions in the

game.

Process

THE FIRST ACTIVITY

In groups of five to six persons, students will be asked to watch three videos below on Ribble's S3 Domain 'Be Social'.

2. On sheets of paper provided, students will be asked to write down the main points of each element under the S3 Domain 'Be Social'

3. Using a video recorder or camera, students must create a video presentation on what you have learnt from the videos provided.

(a) Each student of the group must have an opportunity to present

(b) The video should be no less than five minutes

 

THE SECOND ACTIVITY

1. In groups of four to six, students will be asked to create a photo collage which depicts one of the three  elements of the S3 Domain

'Be Social'.

2. Using a piece of Bristol Board, students must create an 'eye-catching' photo collage using pictures from old books, newspapers, storybooks, magazines, and pictures from the World Wide Web.

3. Once the group has completed the collage, each member of the group must present one thing they have learned about the element chosen.

 

THE THIRD ACTIVITY

1. Students are asked to create a PowerPoint presentation on one of the three elements of the S3 Domain 'Be Social'

2. Each element will be randomly assigned to a group.

3. Use appropriate resources, pictures, videos, and graphs to make the presentation creative.

 

THE FOURTH ACTIVITY

1. The class will be divided into two large groups.

This lesson was designed to teach students in Standard Four about Digital Citizenship. Using Ribble's S3 Domain Be Social the three

elements of this domain are; (Digital Access, Digital Commerce, and Digital Communication and Collaboration).
