Introduction

The digestive system contributes to homeostasis by breaking down food into forms that can be absorbed and used by the body cells. It also absorbs water, vitamins, and minerals, and eliminates wastes from the body.

LECTURE GOALS:

  • Name all the components completing the system
  • Identify all the components’ functions
  • Explain why this system was said to be the most important among all the systems

Task

Your mission is to find out what this system is all about, knowing the parts comprising the system, understanding all the functions of each component and try to internalize if why is this commonly said to have the most important role in the list of systems in the body. Your project must be created into some sort of presentation format, ready to be presented in front of the class.

Process

Information needed includes the following:

  1. Detailed explanation about Digestive System itself.
  2. Explain relationship between “digestion and food”.
  3. Give all the components’ completing the system with their functions.
  4. Read more on how to maintain the system healthy.
  5. References for all of your information and photos/pictures used in parts 1-4.

*You will be creating a presentation to be presented in front of the class. You should have at LEAST four sections in your presentation that address the above information.

Your presentation may follow one of the following formats:

  1. PowerPoint
  2. Movie
  3. Book
  4. Other ideas may be submitted for approval

EVALUATION:

  1. Accuracy of information
  2. Depth of your answers to each section
  3. Correct citation of ALL references
  4. Presentation format and creativity
  5. Quality of presentation (practice!)
  6. Grammatical correctness and proper spelling
  7. Class time spent on task, reference, and other parts

Conclusion

CONCLUSION:

After completing this activity, student will be able to understand and explain what the digestive system is all about. Its components and their functions and why is it the most important system we have in the body.
