Today you will learn about the different phases of matter. Matter is anything that has mass and takes up space. There are three common states of matter: solids, liquids, and gases. Plasma is often stated to be the fourth state of matter but today we will only focus on the most common states. By the end of this lesson, you will be able to identify what state of matter any specific object is in.
Task

By the end of this WebQuest, students will have gained insight on the Different Phases of Matter. You will navigate through multiple websites and videos to gain this insight. You are encouraged to take notes throughout each video and article. Once you have gathered the information that you feel is necessary, you will be required to complete a 10 question multiple choice worksheet on the information you gathered.
Process
To begin today's lesson, you will watch the States of Matter video:
After watching the States of Matter video, you will watch the Physical Properties of Matter video:
After the video, read this article:

Conclusion
It is important to understand that matter exists in all states and that matter can also change states. Each state of matter was thoroughly reviewed today for a better understanding of each different phase of matter. Each article and video was to enlighten you on how the smallest things we use/ eat everyday can easily change properties. Before this webquest, did you realize that ice melting is a form of matter? If not, I hope you were at least able to take that small piece of information from today's lesson!
