Defining the Differences

Introduction

Have you ever wondered what causes us to think and act the way we do?

Elements of psychology!

In this lesson we are going to learn about the differences in Cognitive Psychology, Behaviorism, and Social Cognitive Theory by research and making a flyer (poster) and how they cause to think and act the way we do.

Task

Students will work alone on this activity. The student will make a flyer(poster)  on canva showing the differences in cognitive psychology, behaviorism, and social cognitive theory. Each students flyer (poster) should clearly define the differences, be creative, and organized. The flyer (poster) must include at least the following items:

1. Definition of cognitive psychology, behaviorism, and social cognitive theory (in your own words)

2. examples of real life

3. Who is influential behind each one.

4. What are the key points of each one

5. Include creativity and/or visuals

6. How are they different

Process

As stated in the task, each student will create their own flyer (poster) in canva to represent the differences in Cognitive Psychology, Behaviorism, and Social Cognitive theory. I have provided some websites below, however you must do your own research and site each source on a word document.

Step by Step Process:

1. Student will create a canva account (if you do not already have one)

https://www.canva.com/

2. Gather information from reliable websites for information on the differences in Cognitive Psychology, Behaviorism, and Social Cognitive Theory. Listed below are some helpful websites.

Global web icon Verywell Mind https://www.verywellmind.com/cognitive-psychology-4157181

Videos of Cognitive Psychology Vs Behaviorism (watch video for better understanding- can not use as a reference)

Global web icon MagnifyMinds https://magnifymind.com/behavioral-ps…

Global web icon Simply Psychology https://www.simplypsychology.org/social-cognitive-theory.html

These are just a few websites that may help you out with your research, you are welcome to find your own websites.

After you have completed all of your research you may begin on your flyer (poster) in canva. Please take your time, make it appealing, and get creative!

Conclusion

Excellent Job!

Now that you have taken a deeper dive into the meaning and differences of Cognitive Psychology, Behaviorism and Social Cognitive Theory. Let's think about these questions:

1. What theory best describes you?

2. How are these theories used in real world context? (pick one theory and give example)

3. Explain your answer to #2 and why that theory

I hope you find this flyer (poster) useful in the future, and I can not wait to display everyone's in the classroom.
