Multiplication

You are a multiplication secret agent assigned to help Agent Perry the Platypus.  You have been chosen because you are the best of the best!  If you choose to accept this mission you will use your multiplication skills to conquer this quest and become a top agent and save the number world.

In order to accomplish this mission, you will have to complete the tasks in the order they are given to you.  Multiplication is the name of the game, you and Agent P are the secret agents to complete this mission.

     You must remember that the numbers are going to get larger with multiplication .  As you go through this quest Agent P will help you go from a beginning agent to the top of the line secret agent.  Remember to use your maximum skills to solve the multiplication.  You CAN become a multiplication top secret agent!!

Mission 1:  First you and Agent P are to watch the secret video on multiplying numbers.  This video of multiplying numbers can help you save the number world and become top agent.

Mission 2:  You and Agent P are going undercover to a Reindeer Cafe.  You are to click on the link below and select to practice 4, 6, 7, 8, and 12 tables.  This undercover operation is going to help prepare you for your final mission!  Good Luck!   http://www.fun4thebrain.com/multiplication/reindeerCafe.html 

Mission 3: Your next mission involves a long trip.  You will be going to Multiplanet.  You will help the Multiplanet aliens complete their multiplication in order for them to have numbers grow on their planet.  This is another mission to prepare you for the final test!  Make sure you pick at least 4 different multiplication tables to complete this mission.  Agent P will meet back up with you on Earth!! http://www.fun4thebrain.com/multiplication/alienmunchmult.html

Mission 4:Now it is time for you and Agent P to regroup on Earth.  Your final mission is to go on a scavenger hunt with your group of agents.  You will find your first bag with your teacher.  You will have to follow the instructions in the bag given to you.  If you complete this mission you will become a top secret agent!  GOOD LUCK!!!

Scavenger Hunt

Set Up for Scavenger Hunt:

20 Gallon ziplock bags

Color Paper with review questions

**  To make it easier you can make enough copies of each bag question for each of the groups.

Scavenger Hunt Rules:

1.  Hide the bags somewhere in the classroom, gym, or outside.

1. Students will work with an assigned group of 4-5 students.  Each student will have a sheet they will work their problems out on before they are allowed to go to the next part of the scavenger hunt.  Assign the students a number and this is the question number they will do on each of the bag questions.  Everyone in the group must get their problem correct before they are allowed to go to the next scavenger hunt bag.

1. Let students know they must do the bags in order.  They have to get all of the questions from bag 1 correct before they move to bag 2.

1. Take the students where the bags are located and have all teams begin at the same time.

1. Have students turn in their papers for grade on multiplication.

Congratulations!!!  You have completed the training with Agent P and you are now a top secret agent!!  If you would like to listen to the multiplication song or practice any of the games, you may practice them again to keep the top secret agent status

This lesson is for 3rd grade students that have been introduced to and practicing multiplication.  When doing the web quest if students finish before others are ready for the scavenger hunt, they can play the reindeer game and alien game for practice in order to give all students time to get to the last mission.
