Introduction
This WebQuest is about getting cadets comfortable with money through realistic experiences. Though cadets will not have real money, they will learn about making, saving, budgeting and spending money in everyday life. This activity will hopefully get the children thinking and talking about the importance of money management and relevance of math lessons learned in the classroom.
Task
Group of four cadets will be saving money as they come out of high school and go to college. They all work together as "one" cadet who is going to school full time or 12 hours a week while working and taking care of them self.
The four cadets are as listed:
Food shopper-grocery shopping and eating out
Fashion expert- clothes shopping and personal needs
Banker-to watch spending and help budget
Realtor-to find best, most sensible living situation.
Think about it: What kind of job will you need? How much can you work? What will your budget be? What other things might you need? Don't forget to save for a rainy day; how much are you going to save?
Getting you started:
What job: coffee shop
What pay: $9.75 an hour
How many hours/wk: 10-20
Now make it work to survive!

Process
LETS GET SEARCHING....
Remember: Save for a rainy day and...
Needs are things that we truly can't be without, such as:
- Nutritious food
- A place to live
- A warm winter coat
- A good pair of shoes
- Transportation
Wants are things you'd like to have, but if you don't, you'll still survive (in fact, you'll be just fine). Like:
- Designer jeans
- Toys
- Candy
- Video games
- mountain bike
