Two-Dimensional Geometry

Introduction

You did it!  We finished our study of two-dimensional geometry.  We know how to find the area and perimeter of a parallelogram, triangle, trapezoid, and composite figure.  Now it's time to share your new knowledge with the world!  Click on the "TASK" link to begin!

Task

Your task is to create a lesson that can be used to teach new students entering the class.  Students will be able to use your material to study for quizzes and exams.  You can create a crossword puzzle to teach vocabulary and definitions, and create a PowerPoint, cheat sheet, poster, or other project that will teach the formulas for finding the areas of triangles, parallelograms, trapezoids, and composite figures.  Now click on the "PROCESS" link to see how you will complete the assignment!

Process

First, each team member must choose a role.  Each role requires you to define the shape, explain its characteristics, and describe how to find the area.

  • Parallelogram professional
  • Triangle teller
  • Trapezoid teacher
  • Composite figure champion

Second, you need to review the definitions of the following vocabular words, as they must be included in your crossword puzzle...

  • Area
  • Perimeter
  • Parallelogram
  • Trapezoid
  • Triangle
  • Horizontal
  • Vertical
  • Parallel Lines
  • Perpendicular Lines
  • Quadrilateral

**Feel free to add any additional vocabulary associated wtih this topic!

Third, you need to create a PowerPoint, poster, study quide, quiz, etc. to teach the formulas for the areas of the following figures...

  • Parallelogram
  • Triangle
  • Trapezoid
  • Composite figure
