Dauntless - A Women Suffrage Story. - By Paula W. Hickey

Introduction

Dauntless is a story about women who demand the right to vote.

In this webquest, created by I. Mejout, you are going to investigate their lives and how they contributed in this matter.

"Women's stories are not told. Less than 10% of the content of history books references women. Students cannot name 20 famous American women through history, excluding sports figures, celebrities and First Ladies. Only 20% of news articles are about women. A society that values women values all of its members."

19th Amendment to the Constitution of the United States:

The rights of citizens in the United States to vote shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or by any State on the account of sex.

Congress shall have power to enforce this article by appropriate legislation.

This novel is dedicated to all those who worked unselfishly for seventy-two years (1848-1920) to obtain the vote for women.

To do this assignment with your class you will need several things:

- The novel Dauntless - A Woman's Suffrage Story, by Paula W. Hickey.

- Don't tell your students a lot about the content of the book, they have to find out for themselves.

- They can work individually or in pairs in order to complete the assignment.

- You could have theme explain how they went about their investigation and their results. This is up to you as a teacher.
