Damage of plastic on our planet

Introduction

Introduction to the topic of how plastic has become an integral part of our lives, and we didn't even notice it.

How little attention is paid to garbage sorting and recycling in our country.

How much plastic is consumed in Uzbekistan.

UNDP project “nudge theory” in Uzbekistan.

Show a short video about the harm that plastic causes to the planet.

Show a presentation on this topic.

Task

After watching the video and presentation, students will be divided into groups of 3-4 people and must draw a map that will show step by step the appearance of plastic, the areas where it is used, how it is not recycled and to what consequences it leads to.

The second task is to develop a set of measures that specifically need to be taken in Uzbekistan to reduce plastic waste.

The third task is individually. Students should think what each of them personally can do to reduce plastic consumption and waste.

Process

1. Students are not limited to using any gadgets to search for information when they draw their maps.

2.The first diagram should display several mandatory steps: how plastic came into our daily life, to list as many areas as possible, where it is used, how people irresponsibly throw it away and do not care about recycling, and what consequences each of these stages leads to.

3. The second map must necessarily include the following steps: how each person can reduce the consumption of plastic and its competent recycling. Or, how the country can engage in plastic recycling, which industries it will affect, what needs to be changed to achieve this.

4. Third task will be discussed and every student should demonstrate own opinion

Evaluation

The task will be evaluated depending on how bright and colorful the maps turned out to be. So that there is little text in them.

How each member of the group presents the material.

Creativity.

The work of students in a team.

Individual work on 3rd task

Conclusion

At the end, a small discussion about how much this WebQuest influenced the feelings of each student.

What did they learn?

Did they want to change anything specifically in their lives in relation to plastic waste after this lesson?

The topic is extensive, so each teacher can add something of his own. The main thing is that students in the course of the task realize the extent of the environmental damage caused by plastic to the planet.
