Introduction
With this WebQuest, students will search through youtube to find 5 songs from different periods of time and and tell why they fall under that period of time. Students may choose from the following time periods to assess in their projects; Rennaissance, Baroque, Classical, Romantic and 20th Century. They must select one song for each category. Students will work in group of 2-3 to students to complete this task.
Task
Students will pair off into groups of 2's and 3's and log onto YouTube online. After getting on the website students must search for videos of songs that fall into these time period categories; Rennaissance, Baroque, Classical, Romantic, and the 20th Century. Students must select one song for each category. There will be a chart in the Process section that they will fill out and place these songs into. They must also give reason as to why these songs fall under the time period they placed the song into.

Make sure to place the song title, composer, date the song was composed, the link to the video, and why the song belongs in that time period's category.
Evaluation
Each time period is worth 20 points. Failure to find a song for a time period will result in 20 points deducted from the final score. If you find a song for each time period you will recieve a 100. For extra credit you can find 2 additional songs for the 2 time periods of your choice.
Conclusion
Now that you have completed the task, discuss within your group what you learned about each time period. Which time period is you favorite and why? Did you find a composer that you really liked? Do you think you would like to play a piece of music from a certain time period? Did you like this assignment? Why or Why not?

Purpose
The purpose of this WebQuest is to help music students distinguish between certain periods in time. This will also allow students to recognize the time periods of music based on composer and on the style they are played in. Students can better access the music the will be able to play and also which style of music they favor more.
