Cyber bullying

Introduction

By: Miss Abisalom Fredrika N

The learners will learn what cyber bullying is, who is likely to be bullied, why people do cyber bullying and how one can protect themselves from cyber bullying.

What is cyber bullying?

Cyberbullying is bullying with the use of digital technologies. It can take place on social media, messaging platforms, gaming platforms and mobile phones. It is repeated behaviour, aimed at scaring, angering or shaming those who are targeted.

Anyone can experience bullying or cyberbullying.

People do cyber bully to make another person feel angry, sor scared.

One can protect him or her self by:

Block and report

The best reaction to cyberbullying is to exclude the offender from your world. You don’t have to let them repeat the offence – block them. While ‘telling on’ people is strangely taboo, you should report the behaviour.

Talk to someone

Don’t stay silent. The most important advice I can offer is to talk to someone. This conversation will not only document what is happening to you should it escalate, but you lift the weight of the upset from your shoulders. Find someone you trust, a teacher, parent or another adult who will offer you an opportunity to seek mediation if possible.

Task

I want every one to be in a group of 4 to 5 group members and research for answers to the following questions and submit them during the next lesson.

1. What is cyber bullying in your own understanding

2. Give few examples of cyber bullying

3. How can one over come cyber bullying.

4.What is the law of cyber bullying .

5.What does one do when they are a victim of cyber bullying?

6.What are some steps in preventing cyber bullying?

Process

1. Divide yourself in groups of 4 to 5 members each group.

2.Do a research on cyber-bullying.

1. What is cyber bullying in your own understanding

2. Give few examples of cyber bullying

3. How can one over come cyber bullying.

4.What is the law of cyber bullying .

5.What does one do when they are a victim of cyber bullying?

6.What are some steps in preventing cyber bullying?

4.Create PowerPoint based on the information you got on the questions above so you are able to present it to the class during the next lesson.

Evaluation

I have realized that to prevent cyber bullying, one has to try and do the following way:

.Engage parents and youth into the matter

Create a community for adults and pupils to send a unified message against cyberbullying. Establish a school safety committee that will control and discuss the problems of online bullying. Just as there are now laws in some states against cyberbullying, teachers and administrators can create policies and rules, including a cyberbullying reporting system.

.Emphasize positivity

School staff can do a big deal to prevent cyberbullying.  As a teacher, you can use staff and parent meetings and even send newsletters. Use your school website to create a page and forum, where parents can discuss the problem. You can also engage bullies and victims by giving them mutual tasks, so they can try to see each other from a different perspective.

Conclusion

In conclusion I would like to say!

Cyberbullying is a problem in societies that are advanced enough to have the technology to connect with other people online and is not easily fixable.  Cyberbullying can affect anyone but is most prominent in today’s youth.

Thank you for all your hard work.

Teacher Page

Anti-Social is like a light version of full-scale Internet-blocker . Rather than blocking the Internet in its entirety, Anti-Social automatically blocks all of the known timesinks for a set period of time. It’s not that different from Self-Control , except that it comes pre-equipped with a blacklist. If you can’t handle your Internet abstinence, you can turn Anti-Social off by rebooting your computer.
