I will elaborate on the logistics of your task in great detail via this WebQuest. You are required to work as an individual.
Your task consists of 2 sections [Section A & Section B]

Due Date: 11 JUNE 2021 Total Marks: 60
For this English Task you get to incorporate all your imaginative ideas and express your creativity through your creative writing skills. So far we have interpreted and analyzed many poems by Maya Angelou, Ingrid Jonker and even Shakespeare himself. I need you to use the poetry skills you have learned to create your very own poem. You will also be required to allow me to understand the significance and purpose of your poem by interpreting it.
This English Task allows you to be the master of your creativity. I look forward to reading your poetry :)

Process
Task Process Requirements:
SECTION A: Creative Writing
- Write a poem which is uniquely yours! [no plagiarism]
- Choose any topic, theme and style of writing that you prefer.
For example: sonnet, formal, informal, long poem, short poem, structured or no structure, punctuation or no punctuation
- Give your poem a good title
- You may add imagery and borders for extra credit so make it easy on the eyes [Avoid too much clutter!]
- Sign your name at the bottom of the poem

SECTION B: Interpretation of your Poem
Once you have completed writing your poem, you are required to interpret the poem
- Indicate the external structure of the poem [eg: rhyme scheme]
- Identify figurative language [eg: metaphors, similes, onomatopoeia]
- Explain the title of the poem
- Describe the tone and language use of the poem
- Interpret and explain the significance of the theme/topic of the poem
- Please do this on a separate page. [make two copies of your poem in order to do the poem analysis on the 2nd copy of your poem]

I wanted you to understand poetry and how to successfully analyze a poem on a more practical level so that you may be more comfortable with poetry in preparation of your June examinations.
You have now improved your creative writing skills, your poetic analysis and interpretive skills and you have mastered the art of understanding the process of creating your own unique style of poem writing.

My Perception on Using this WebQuest Platform for English Lessons:

As an English Home Language Educator, we have to learn to integrate the use of new technologies in order to support the increase in the use of ICT’s within the language department of the faculty.
WebQuests are a simper and easy to use online collaborative platform which enables me to host an online English lesson virtually and more importantly, as a long-distance teaching method during the pandemic.
I highly recommend and encourage all of my students and my colleagues to utilize this technology as it makes learning and teaching so much more fun and interesting!
