Introduction

The internet has become an important part of our daily lives. We use it for communication, education, entertainment, and social interaction. However, the online world also comes with challenges such as cyberbullying, fake news, online scams, and privacy issues. Because of this, every internet user must learn how to become a responsible netizen.

In this WebQuest, you will explore the meaning of responsible netizenship, discover proper online behavior, and learn how your actions can help create a safer and more respectful digital community.

Task

At the end of this activity, students will be able to:

Define responsible netizenship

Identify proper and improper online behaviors

Understand the importance of digital responsibility

Promote safe and ethical internet use

Create a creative output that encourages responsible online behavior

Process

Step 1: Learn About Responsible Netizenship

Instruction: Research and answer the following questions:

1. What is a netizen?

2. What does it mean to be a responsible netizen?

3. Why is responsible online behavior important?

4. Write your answers in 3–5 sentences each.

Step 2: Identify Good and Bad Online Behaviors

Instruction: Read the examples below and identify whether they show responsible or irresponsible online behavior.

1. Respecting others online

2. Cyberbullying

3. Protecting personal information

4. Sharing fake news

5. Asking permission before posting photos of others

6. Hacking accounts

7. Giving proper credit to sources

8. Plagiarism

9. Using polite language online

10. Spreading hate comments

After reading the examples, add at least three more examples of responsible online behavior and three examples of irresponsible online behavior.

Step 3: Research Common Online Issues

Instruction: Choose TWO of the following topics and explain them briefly:
