Introduction
1. Introduction
Welcome Travel Agents!
Your travel agency has four destinations to promote — Mexico, Costa Rica, Argentina, and Peru.
Each of you will represent one country and convince your client (the class) why your destination is the best place to visit in Latin America.
Use what you learn about culture, history, geography, and attractions to make a short pitch that will make travelers want to pack their bags!
Pitch: Persuasive message with the goal of convincing.
Task
2. Task
You will work with the people at your table.
Each table will research one country (Mexico, Costa Rica, Argentina, or Peru).
Your table’s goal is to prepare a 1-minute persuasive pitch (in English) explaining:
-
What makes your country unique
-
One cultural or natural attraction
-
Why tourists should visit your destination instead of the others
Process
3. Process
Follow these steps:
Step 1 - Divide and Research
Each table will be assigned one country by the instructor and will explore their country's website below to collect quick, accurate facts.
Mexico:
Costa Rica:
Argentina:
Peru:
Note: If needed, you can search up other websites about your country as well (NO Wikipedia).
In your handout, write in summarization pyramid:
-
One famous place or natural landmark
-
One unique cultural tradition or food
-
One reason tourists visit
Step 2 - Prepare Your Pitch
Share your notes with your group.
Then, plan your 1 - minute persuasive pitch, including:
-
3 key facts about your country that make it unique
-
One cultural or natural attraction
-
BONUS: At least one sentence that compares your country with another (for example: “Peru is more historic than Costa Rica”) and explain how you reached that conclusion.
-
-
Tip: Think why tourists should visit your destination instead of the others.
-
Step 3 – Present & Vote (if there's time)
Each student presents their mini-pitch.
After a member of the table speaks, your group discusses which country you’d choose to promote as “El mejor destino.”
The class votes for the most convincing destination overall!
