Introduction

Students will learn how to identify and comprehend nonfiction and fiction stories. They will be given a variety of text to be able to look through to determine whether or not it is fiction or nonfiction.
Task
We will select and ready different books and stories. After reading the story it will be determined if it is a fiction or nonfiction story. We then will write a review on the story stating its title, genre (nonfiction or fiction), and and the reasoning behind the why it is determined to be fiction or nonfiction. This will be continued until all the content is reviewed. Then the teacher will review to see if the work is correct.
Process
Work together as partners then have open discussion within the classroom:
1. Understand the task you were given and after the review from the teacher pair up with a partner.
2. Discuss the stories content such as the title, genre, and reason for being declared fiction or nonfiction.
3. After determining that and better understand with your partner dive a little deeper and discuss what sub genre you could pair the stories up with (poetry, fantasy, biography)
4. Have an open discussion with the whole class to see what others put down.

The activity was to help better understand how to properly tell about a fiction story and a non fiction story. This was to help understand the likes and differences of the two. I hope this helps within your class understanding the differences and similarities.
