Compound Words Quest

Introduction

Let's go on a quest to find some compound words!

A compound word is a combination of two or more words that form a new word with a new meaning. For example, the words "water" and "melon" have their own meanings when used separately. However, when joined together, they form a new word with a different meaning, "watermelon".

There are three types of compound words:

  • Closed: Combined to make a larger word

  • Open: Left as two separate words

  • Hyphenated: Joined by a hyphen
