Introduction
We get information about places and regions in many different ways. One way to learn about a place is to study its resources.
Task
The Task
You will research a region of the United States and come up with a persuasive project to present to your teachers.
Process
Step 1:
You will be divided into groups of 4-5 students. Each member in your group will choose one of the following roles.
Travel Agent:researches tourist attractions
Historian: researches interesting facts
Geographer: studies landforms, climate and makes a map key
Cartographer: researches the states and national parks
Resources person: researches resources, industry, agriculture and makes a map key
Step 2:
The United States is divided into five major regions: Northeast, Southeast, Midwest, Northwest and Southwest. Your group will research one of these regions.
Step 3:
Each group member will complete their section on the Google Classroom Group Doc using the resource links below and books from either the classroom or the library. Research your region and record your findings. If the links do not work, copy and paste the URL into your browser.

Step 4:
Get back with your group and share your new found information.
Step 5:
Using the resources above, your group will construct a Physical Map of your region. Your map will need to name the state and capital, all major rivers and include a map key for climate and resources. Use research to help you. Be sure to get the correct paper and your final project should be in full color.
Step 6:
Once your group has completed the first five tasks, you must decide what kind of persuasive project your group will create. Be creative, you may prepare a Power Point, make a commercial, a travel brochure , poster, presentation etc. You will then create your project following guidelines on the rubric.

At the conclusion of this web quest, you will know what the five regions of the United States are.
You will also know about the main attractions, the resources, climate, and some of the national parks found in each region.
You will be able to decide what area you would like to visit when you have the opportunity to do so.
