Writing a Feature Article

Introduction

Never written a feature article before? Fret not because this web quest will teach you the basic know- how on writing effective feature articles. You may not have the passion for writing now but you have the time.

Get on the quest. Learn to write. Love to write.

This webquest is specifically created for fourth year highschool students taking their English writing classes. Through this the students will be introduced to rules and principles that must be kept in mind when writing feature stories. Upon going over the related resources that are provided herein they are expected to create a sample article of their own. The goal is for students to be able to put into practice whatever knowledge on feature writing they will encounter on the materials.

Task

You are to create a travelogue as a class. This is a type of feature article wherein a certain place of interest will be the subject of the composition. As a class choose a certain place (famous sceneries, landmarks, towns, establishment or others) and decide a date that you’re going to visit the area.

This will be a collaborative type of feature writing wherein the class will be divided into 3 groups. Each group will be assigned to take over a certain part the article. One group will write the introduction, another will make the body and the last will write the conclusion part. After creating the feature article the final task is to publish it online.

This webquest was created by Aycel B. Narvaez, a graduate of AB Journalism at the Ateneo de Naga University, in partial fulfillment of the requirements in her Educational Technology class. One day she saw these cute little buddies all dressed-up for school walking down the street. That's when it hit her. She wanted to teach. As of the moment she cannot share any work related experiences. Let's just say that she's a fresh graduate who still is confined in the protective zones set by her biological creators.
