The Cold War

Introduction

This project is developed in the History Class. It is based on what is planned to the Cold War's unit and its skills requirements. The purpose of the presentation is to develop social and communicative skills. It is part of the competences required to this unit and subject.  

Task

The present task has the aim to develop communication skills in the students from the History class. Through an oral presentation, students would share with their classmates their knowledge about the Cold War in Latin America.

Process

Students have to:

  1. Identify the Cold war’s influence in one Latin American country.
  2. Identify at least 3 topics in which the Cold War had influence (arts, politics, economy, social movements, etc.).
  3. Of each topic, students have to present 3 examples that support the topic they chose.
  4. Share with their classmates their conclusions and the relevance of the Cold War in what they have exposed.

Evaluation

Visuals: 10%

  • (Use of Appropriate images, charts, graphics).
  • The images are related to information provided in the slide

Lenght of arguments: 10%

  • The statements used in each slide do not exceed 20 words.

Spelling and Grammar: 10%

  • Very little amount of grammatical errors.
  • Very little spelling errors.

Video: 10%

  • Students used a video of no more than 5 minutes.
  • The video is related with the topic.

Questions: 10%

  • The questions are well reasoned and summed up clearly and effectively, with key points emphasised.

Body Language and gesture: 20%

  • Students looked relaxed and confident
  • SS. controlled nervous have movements
  • SS. used appropriate body language
  • SS movement and posture were relaxed

Content: 30%

  • Students were in control of subject matter
  • Ss covered what they intended to cover
  • Ss displayed knowledge of topic.

 

Conclusion

The most important thing in this project is to expose an oral presentation that could help students to improve the way they research, analyze and present what they know. Is important to take care of details and analyze carefully the evaluation rubric. 

Students would get a good grade if they read carefully each of the bullets presented in this webquest. At the end of the presentation, the teacher will give them feedback about their performance and will also give them comments to improve further presentations.
