Cognitive developmental theories webquest by Monzaga Diana Rose B.

Introduction

The creation of thought processes, such as remembering, solving problems, and making decisions, from childhood through adolescence and into adulthood is known as cognitive development. The term "cognitive development" describes how a person observes, thinks, and understands his or her environment as a result of the interaction of genetic and learned elements. Processing of information, intelligence, reasoning, language development, and memory are some of the cognitive development domains.

Lev Vygotsky and Jean Piaget, both psychologists, both came up with their own theories about cognitive development.

Both theorists believe that social connections, challenges, constructive processes, and readiness all play important roles in growth. The division in perspectives occurs with regard to the function of language in cognitive development, the key results of interactions with peers against interactions with adults, the relative value of free exploration versus more structured and supervised activities, and the influence of culture.
