Roman Superstitions, Religions, Omens and Home Life

Introduction

This informative webquest is here to guide you around the times of Julius Ceaser. What we are hoping to teach you is all about the Superstitions during this time. The Romans worshipped a main pantheon of 12 Gods called Dii Consentes: six gods and six goddesses: Jupiter, Juno, Minerva, Vesta, Ceres, Diana, Venus, Mars, Mercurius, Neptunus, Volcanus, and Apollo. .They were a very religious group of people, and they worshipped many different types of Gods. They had a unique home life, they did some of the same things and some of the things were completely unthinkable. This webquest will be fun along with educational. You will learn a bunch. So let's begin shall we...

Task

There was no internet during the time of Julius Ceaser, but if there was internet almost all the Roman Gods would be on the internet. But since they arent that's your job. You will be researching Roman Gods, Home Life and Superstitions. You need to create a Fakebook page for your favorite Roman God. You must list their activites, give them relevant friends... such as other Gods.  Give them a bio, make sure they have a profile picture, the possibilities are endless. Make this your own, you can do anything you want to as long as it's relavant. Describe the

Process

Your task will be comprised of the following special assignments:

  • Research:First you will research the different home life rituals, religions, omens and superstitions. You will then answer the questions below before you do your project. 
  • Answer the questions below about Home Life, Roman Gods and Superstitions.

  3. What type of people didn’t believe in the superstitions and ghosts? 
  4. Name one example that was considered a bad omen.
  5. What were generally seen as omens of bad luck?
  6. Who was terribly worried about losing his sight? 
  7. What did Consul Mucianus carry for good luck?
  8. What did the Roman’s think of Jupiter?
  9. What is Jupiter the god of?
  10. What is one of the main things Romans did at home?
