Climate Change and Its Effects

Introduction

Climate change is one of the most serious problems affecting the world today. You may have noticed hotter weather, stronger storms, flooding, and rising sea levels. These changes are not random—they are connected to human activities and natural processes.

In this WebQuest, you will act as an environmental researcher and investigate how climate change affects our planet and community. Your goal is to understand the causes, effects, and possible solutions.

Task

Your task is to work in a group and create an informative digital poster or presentation about climate change.

Your final output must include:

  1. Definition of climate change
  2. Causes of climate change
  3. Effects of climate change (global and local)
  4. Evidence/data that proves climate change is happening
  5. Solutions (what people and governments can do)
  6. A short reflection: How can we help reduce climate change in our community?

Final Output Options:

  • Canva poster
  • PowerPoint / Google Slides presentation
  • Infographic

Follow these steps to complete your WebQuest:

Step 1: Form your group

Divide roles:

  • Researcher (causes)
  • Researcher (effects)
  • Data collector (statistics/evidence)
  • Designer (poster/presentation)
  • Presenter (reporting)

Step 2: Gather information

Use the provided websites to research climate change. Take notes and summarize the key ideas in your own words.

Step 3: Analyze the problem

Answer these questions:

  • What is climate change?
  • Why is it happening?
  • How does it affect humans, animals, and the environment?
  • What evidence supports your findings?

Step 4: Create your output

Design your poster or slides. Ensure that the information is clear, organized, and visually attractive.

Step 5: Present your work

Present your output to the class (3–5 minutes).

Step 6: Reflection

Write a short reflection (5–7 sentences):

  • What did you learn?
  • What action can you personally do to help reduce climate change?
