This webquest is designed to teach students about the Classifying and organizing of food and beverages managements. The students will be specialized on the Food and beverages managements that they will do the implementations in their area in the sector.

 

Introduction

     Tourism is travel for pleasure or business; also the theory and practice of touring, the business of attracting, accommodating, and entertaining tourists, and the business of operating tours. Tourism may be international, or within the traveller's country.Tourism is the most important aspect both in Turkey and World during the last years. That’s why %10 of the World population attend the international torism mobilities and fastly growing sector comparing others in the market. Tourism managements take very important role to direct the tourism all around the World and Turkey. These are the business units that producing materials and services economically for the tourism sector.

    The history of accomodation managements in Turkey goes to the past comparing the accomodation managements in Europe. Turks built caravanserais for the travellers acocomodate people comfortably.  It is firstly seen in the state of the Seljuks.These managements aim not profit but service for the people and animals travelling across the country. Then in Ottoman time besides caravanserais some inns were built in the city centers.The first modern hotel in Turkey is the Pera Palas in 1892 in İstanbul.The first international hotel is the Hilton hotel in in İstanbul. After that new hotel were opened by different sectors in, Ankara, İzmir ve Bursa for central hotels and resort hotels near the seaside in İstanbul, Antalya, Çeşme, Akçay etc. Tourism managements are classified in six groups running in the tourism industry;

*Food and Beverage Managements

*Transportation Managements

*Travel Managements

*Recreation  Managements

*Other Managments(Managements selling souvenirs)

*Composed salads

 

*In this webquest we will learn about:

-          the tourism managements

-          the classifications of the hotels

-          the fecilities

-          the services of the hotel managements

-          the features of the food and beverage managements

 

Ø  What are the hotel types, fecilities, features, the history of accommodation in Turkey, national and international accommodation managements.

Ø  Assessment techniques: Question-answer, observation, implementing, group work, and internet will be used.

Ø  how to develop a questionnaire for the evaluation of classifying and organizing of food and beverages managements

Task

Your task for this webquest is to find out accommodation types and learn the features of them.

You and your group (4 students total) will become "experts" on this topic.

Lastly, you will develop a procedure in which you will present all the progress that must be carried out within the classified hotels: service, catering, buffets, fecilities related to the food and beverages managements. You will also develop a questionnaire that will help you assess the information you learn
