Exploring The Ocean!

Introduction

Let's Explore The Ocean!Have you ever wondered what life is like under the ocean? How would you get there? What would you wear? What would you need to take with you to observe all the sea creatures and plant life that lives there? Let's climb aboard a boat and sail to the middle of the ocean! You will dive into the deep waters and observe all sea life, big and small! You will want to record what you find, so how about bringing an underwater camera? And someone needs to take notes! Who will collect underwater sea sponges and rocks? You and your team will decide who will do these tasks, research ocean life, then present what you find to your class.Standards addressed during this assigment:

· LAFS.K.W.2.6-With guidance and support from adults, explore a variety of digital tools to produce and publish writing, including in collaboration with peers.

· LAFS.K.W.2.6-Use technology, including the Internet, to produce and publish writing and to interact and collaborate with others.

· SC.K.N.1.1-Collaborate with a partner to collect information

· SC.K.N.1.4-Observe and create a visual representation of an object which includes its major features

· SC.K.N.1.5-Recognize that learning can come from careful observation

· SC.K.N.1.2-Make observations of the natural world and know that they are descriptors collected using the five senses.

Task

Put on your scuba suits and get ready to dive into the deep!  Decide among your team who will:

Take pictures of the ocean

Record what is found 

and

Collect ocean rocks, shells, and sponges

Process

1.  Decide who among your team will take pictures, record findings, and collect sea life.

2.  Research for your role:  What would an underwater photographer take pictures of?

                                    What would the person recording the findings write about?

                                    What sea items would you want to collect?
