Chest pass in netball

Introduction

Students will learn how to perform a chest pass in netball and understand when to use it during a game. They will demonstrate the correct technique and body position while executing the pass. Students will also work in groups and explain key coaching points. 

Task

Students will use online resources to learn about chest pass and its importance in netball. 

Students will: 

  • Identify the key coaching points of a chest pass.
  • watch and understand demonstration videos.
  • Practice and perform the chest pass in class.
Process

Vocabulary: chest pass, stance, grip, follow- through, accuracy

Students will watch videos that demonstrate how to correctly perform a chest pass in netball. 

After watching the videos students will focus on executing the correct technique.

Students will then practice the chest pass in pairs and small groups focusing on accuracy and proper technique.

Students will demonstrate the skill along with explaining the key coaching points.

 

Evaluation

Vocabulary: Students can define and use key terms correctly.

Understanding: Students understand the instructions and demonstrations.

Skill execution: Students are able to perform the chest pass.

Participation: Students actively participated in all activities. 

Conclusion

The lesson went well as students were actively engaged in all activities. They participated in watching demonstrations, practicing in pairs and groups and discussing the key coaching points. Most students were able to correctly perform the chest pass using proper technique, including good stance, grip, and follow through. They also showed improvement in their accuracy and confidence when passing the ball. By the end of the lesson students were able to demonstrate the chest pass effectively and had a better understanding of when to use it in a netball game.
