Chemical Reactions

Introduction

Clip art of a synthesis reaction equation where an Erlenmeyer flask with dark green liquid labelled A is combined, using a plus sign, with an Erlenymeyer flask with yellow liquid labelled B resulting in a product labelled AB in an Erlenmeyer flask with lime green liquid.

Welcome my fellow scientists!

Have you ever wondered how things react together?

In this Webquest, you will begin figuring out the differences between a chemical reaction and a physical reaction!

Prepare to be knowledgeable.

Task

Your task is to prepare a slide show with a reaction you can see in everyday life.

These can not be water.

Your powerpoint should have 4 slides.

The first slide should show what your product is, and what the reactants are.

The second slide should be where you see this in everyday life.

Your third slide should be a video or images showing how this reaction occurs.

On the last slide you will elaborate how your reaction is a chemical reaction.

Process

Step One, Two, Three Progress Buttons Stock Clipart | Royalty-Free | FreeImages

1. Find your real life item: This can not be water.

2. Research: What is your product? What are the reactants? What happens to the reactants that make this a chemical reaction? Explain your reasonings.

3. Design your presentation: Create an informative poster with visuals. You should have an example of where we would see this in real life. It should have a description of what is occurring in the equation. It should have a description explaining how this is a chemical reaction. You should have your reactants pictured and described in words and your product pictured and described in words.

4. Cite your sources: On the back of the poster you should have stapled your sources listed in MLA format.

Evaluation

Your Slides will be evaluated on:

If you have an object you can see everyday.

If you have colorful images or videos of how the reactions occur.

If you have explanations of what is occurring in each picture/ reaction.

If you explain whether or not this is a chemical reaction.

Proper citations

Overall Organization of your presentation.

Conclusion

Congratulations my fellow scientists! You are now experienced in what chemical reactions are, and where ELSE you can see them besides our textbook! I hope this was an exciting and eye opening experience for you all and that WebQuest made it easy!
