Introduction
There is a reason people say blood is thicker than water. Every person has basic needs, but you might not realize how much your family affects your needs. Part of having a family is having a set of traditions that may or may not be the same as everyone elses family. This is what make your family, and you, unique.

Today, you are going to learn about individual needs and reflect on how your family helps you meet those needs. You will also learn why families follow their own traditions and reflect on your own families traditions.
Task
1. Your first task is to read an article and watch a video about Maslow's hierarchy of needs.
2. Your second task is to create a word document with a pyramid explaining how your family helps you meet each level of basic needs.
3. Your third task is to read an article about family traditions.
4. Your fourth and final task is to write a paragraph about your families traditions.
Process
To understand how your family affects your basic needs, you must first know what your basic needs are.
1.) Click on this link to read about Maslow, and his hierarchy of needs: http://www.simplypsychology.org/maslow.html
I know that was a lot of reading, so to sum it up clink on the link to watch a video that puts what you just read into action.

The video should look like this:
2.) Now that you know what your basic needs are, how does your family help you meet them? I want you to make a word document that contains a pyramid of how your family helps you meet each step of your basic needs.
First, open a word document. Second, click on the Insert tab at the top of the page. Next, click on the SmartArt icon. Then select the Pyramid List. You can press enter to create more levels so that you can type for each level of needs.
Here is a picture reminder of Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs:

3. Part of the family dynamic is family traditions. Every family has their own traditions, but why do we feel it necessary to make our own traditions? Click on the following link to find out.

Now that you know why families have traditions, I want to learn about traditions that your family has. On the word document you created your pyramid on, write a paragraph explaining your families traditions. This can be religious, cultural, or holiday traditions that your family does together.
When you are finished please print off your paper and turn it in to me.
