Charles Lindbergh Kidnapping Trial Case File

Introduction

On Mar 1, 1932, Charles Lindbergh, Jr., the first child of Charles and Anne Lindbergh, was kidnapped from his home in Hopewell, NJ.

Two years later an arrest was made.

The circumstances surrounding the trial which took place in Livingston, NJ in 2935 in which German immigrant carpenter Bruno Richard Hauptmann was convicted of murder still leaves many wondering if justice was carried out, inspiring conspiracy theories that have haunted this case since the beginning.

Task

Read through the case file, gather evidence and then, as a jury, come up with a verdict for Bruno Hauptmann. A jury must be unanimous or it will be considered a hung jury. In this case the trial is thrown out and must be done again. Try to avoid that outcome.

If everyone in the jury believes Hauptmann is guilty, your verdict is to CONVICT.

If everyone in the jury believes Hauptmann is not guilty, your verdict is to ACQUIT.

If you can not come up with an unanimous verdict, everyone must state their verdicts separately.
